You perfectly summed it up. The actual boys group is like a side note compared to the supes. All the supes are better than ever. But the others are boringggggggggg. Mm is the best of the bunch but its a low bar

I didn’t really like episode 5 it really felt like a nothing episode and just had some character development which is fine in most shows but in a show that’s only going to have 40 total episodes that’s not really acceptable because it’s taking away one episode of proper story development

It is so borderline racist that people cannot tell that the actors who played black noir and mothers milk are the same actors. One guy takes his mask off and actually get some lines and the other guy simply shaves his beard. There are some psychological thing going on with white folks, where they don’t look at Black people.

It just completely defeats the purpose of him working out if he’s gonna be wearing baggy bad cosplay costume with that.

Regarding Neuman, I think what the show is trying to do is demonstrate how, even with the best of intentions and left wing ideology, those who obtain positions of "power" in an inherently right wing system are still powerless against the system itself. Neuman is forced to be "evil" to protect her daughter from the system's wrath. She's not willingly siding with Homelander, she's doing so for survival.

One of the complaints I have and don't see mentioned is just how many people are killed this season, I mean, just killed with no consequences at all. The fight of Kimiko and Hughie with that gang - it happened in a semi-public place, lots of blood and bodies, and no mention of that afterwards. Deaths in the hospital by Hughie's dad - no consequences (and it isn't like Vought was to cover it up, since it wasn't involved). Lots of deaths at Vought, high profile deaths, too, and it is just brushed off off-screen. There are just so many deaths a megacorporation would be able to cover up, especially if there is a federal agency on their ass, some of those MUST have consequences, but no. It feels meaningless, more like a rollercoaster than an actual series. We are just supposed to accept like yeah, this guy is dead now, this fight happened, that's it, next scene now. There is a big shitstorm from the fact that Starlight beat up Firecracker, but almost no mention of the fact that Butcher killed the multiplying guy at a public event

I have an off-the-wall idea that "Firecracker" is some kind of clone of Stormfront. Soldier Boy said Liberty was a Firecracker and she uses some very similar lines to Stormfront. Unfortunately, as terrible as that sounds, season four is gutter trash. The wit and intrigue is gone, replaced with gross humor and fart jokes.

I know Frenchie was bi since forever but it feels like their forcing the Colin plot by showing a lot gay sex, like we get it hes gay, everytime we see them on screen its always sexual, but with him and kimiko they barely had any intimacy and yet still created a great relationship. Theres no problem but like how am i supposed be emotionally invested when the characters are literally only physically invested into each other. Like maybe they could have shown how frenchie was using colin as an emotional support system for his grief of killing his family. But he just fucks and is like alr imma dip

the only thing i disagree with you on is the deep... ugh i can´t stand his scenes and his plot! i feel like a-train is a lot more compeling and his arc is sucessfully showing us the complexity of being a supe and a shit person while showing us his reasons, his problems and his life.

I commented on this in another thread, but I think it would have been cool if some kind of... spectral Bluehawk started appearing to A-Train and taunting him, now that A-Train has his heart. I know it's probably not going to happen since Homelander and Butcher are being taunted by their own internal 'Harry Morgan' so it'd be likely too much of a cliche... Or maybe not. It could be revealed in the show that one of the side effects of Compound V could be some kind of schizophrenia-esque psychosis. A-Train could even be more prone to it due to his history of abusing compound V in prior seasons. But I know, likely not going to happen. Though a reveal that Compound V causes long term psychosis in supes could be a way to make them even more dangerous.

The show makes no sense now. Explain to me why hasnt Homelander just killed the Boys already? He already tried lasering Hughie, did he just... forget about him? Whatever was stopping him CLEARLY isnt anymore so..? They really fucked up in season 3 by having that showdown that amounted to nothing. That should have been THE fight, if they didnt want to end it there then just dont have the fight.

I reckon Newman is a phenomenally well written and well acted character, because whenever she's on screen, I feel a real terror that someone's head is gonna explode. Every second she's on the screen. She hasn't exploded any heads recently but I can feel it coming.

Honestly the first 3 seasons had so much going for it. This season definitely feels like sequalitis like everything is just so stretched out like why is firecracker even here? Why does Hughie's dad have to die and then Hughie gets sexual assulted for laughs in the next episode? Hell why do we have multiple sexual violence played for laughs? Why is Frenchie and Kimiko split up and barely have anything going on this season? Why is Butchers Arc basically just recreating a virus that Victoria nueman had in Gen V? Why does the Deep and Black Noir get so much screentime in the first 2 eps then barely get any by eps 5 and 6? Idk they are just all over the place this season. The only one im actually liking is MM because he literally is holding this shit together

There's so much that the series is doing RIGHT, but the amount of important shit that they decided to do offscreen was REALLY jarring to me in the beginning of the season. Especially during my second watch with my wife after binging the whole thing with her to catch her up. That second watch CLARIFIED that all of the things were done offscreen. There's literally a scene they throw in a "previously on" with Neuman getting what I assume to be the virus from someone before killing them. That scene and the scene talking about the virus didn't happen in season 3 OR 4. Shit was jarring as fuck. Almost as jarring as them making Kimiko and Frenchie break up offscreen without even getting them together in the first place JUST to repeat his mistake but ACTUALLY make it his fault. It was one thing for him to be kidnapped after they kissed. She immediately knew that he just COULDNT talk when she herself gets kidnapped... so for him to turn himself in when she wants to talk makes me feel more like he abandoned her. Collin was nothing but a plot divice to make him hit rock bottom and I don't see how he couldn't have come to the same epiphany with kimiko. He was already written as spiraling towards rock bottom, it could've worked even if they didn't get together romantically. They just fucked up by ignoring the conversation that needed to happen alltogether. There's no closure with them to justify them being so okay with not being together after setting them up since the moment they met. Then there's Starlight. She somehow got the best character development out of the whole crew, but the most important part of it in my opinion was COMPLETELY OFFSCREENED. Firecracker had been an absolutely PHENOMINAL foil to Annie. She represents the worst parts of the things that Annie represents. She's the evil side of social media, Starlight main superpower is her brand as a likable person. Her truth vs Firecrackers conspiracy is gold. Starlight is a Christian who actually cares about people. Firecracker is a Christian who uses the religion for profit and clout. I knew from the beginning that Starlight was a bitch s a kid. Or at least, I was worried that she was TOO nice given her backstory and was worried that if they didnt make her a bitch as a kid turned humbled. A pretty blonde popular christian woman who grew up WINNING beauty parents wouldn't be nice without some MAJOR shit going down. Firecracker being a lens into that side of Annie has been absolutely beautiful to watch, but I can't stress enough, they had the christian girl get an abortion offscreen and they didn't show what that meant to her and how she took it as it happened. Shit was WAY out of left field compared to the rest of the things she mentioned. Having it be TOLD rather than shown felt so anticlimactic. There's way too many missing scenes
